Description

Sewn section buff. The 4" 20 Ply 1/4" Concentric Sewn Buffing Wheel is ideal for use with green coloring compounds or white coloring compounds for finish work. It comes pre-raked and ready for initial use, making it a good choice for color buffing. It can also be used with Tripoli compounds for light to moderate cut-down operations. The compact 4" diameter provides good control for smaller and more detailed applications.

About

Sewn section buffs are firmer and less flexible than loose buffs. A concentric sewn buffing wheel features multiple layers of cloth joined together with rows of circular stitching that form concentric rings around the center arbor hole. Sewing row spacing can be 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", or 3/4", with 1/4" being the most common.

Construction

Made from 86/80 untreated cotton. Sewn buffs can also be made from 60/60, 68/72, and 80/80 cotton in both mill-treated and untreated cloth. Available sewing types include Concentric, Straight Spoke, Radial Arc, and others. Sewn Canton flannel buffs are only available in concentric stitch.

Typical Application

For buffing or coloring various articles made from metal, hard rubber, plastics, and other materials where increased rigidity is needed over loose buffs.

Sizes

Available in 2" to 18" diameters, with standard sections commonly available in 20-ply construction. This 4" wheel has a 1/2" face thickness and can be used individually or ganged together on the arbor shaft to achieve the desired overall face width.

Precautions

Safe operation requires the use of end washers. Wear appropriate safety clothing, respiratory protection, and eye protection during use. Do not exceed the maximum specified RPM.
